Peter Jackson says more Beatles songs ‘could happen’

Date:

Filmmaker Peter Jackson has warned that “Now and Then,” the “last Beatles song,” may not be… well, the last Beatles song.

To The Sunday Times, the filmmaker explained that more archival recordings from the band’s old sessions could be used to produce new songs.

“We could take one of the performances we used on Get Back, separate John and George’s contributions, and have Paul and Ringo add a chorus or some harmonies. It’s totally conceivable,” commented Jackson, referencing the Beatles documentary series which he directed himself.

The director, however, stressed that he “didn’t have any kind of conversation with Paul” about the possibility of more Beatles songs.

“For now, it’s just a fan fantasy, but I’m saying it’s possible,” he added.

It’s worth remembering that the song released last week “Now and Then” was composed mainly by John Lennon shortly before his death in 1980.

In the following decade, Paul McCartney received a cassette tape from his former bandmate’s widow, Yoko Ono, containing a demo of the song.

Artificial intelligence, introduced to McCartney by director Peter Jackson, allowed the song to be completed. McCartney characterized “Now and Then” as “the final Beatles song”.
